ABN's Mobile Banking allows you to bank anytime, anywhere from the convenience of your mobile phone. ABN uses multiple forms of identification authentication, log-in procedures and encrypted communications to make sure your mobile banking application is safe and secure.

The continuing growth of mobile phones and mobile banking is providing conveniences for you and offers more ways to access accounts. Of course, fraudsters (those individuals trying to steal personal information) are going to follow the same path and turn their attention to mobile banking with malware and social engineering in search of potential targets. Fraudsters know that one of the possible keys to their success lies within an account holder. Security awareness education is a key to minimizing these risks to ABN clients from fraudsters.

TIPS FOR SAFE AND SECURE MOBILE BANKING:

  • The best place to download the ABN mobile banking app is from the app store. If you have any doubts about, Please contact ABN.
  • Do not tell your mobile banking account number, username, password, and other important information to others under any circumstances (including mobile phone support operators or mobile phone sales representatives, etc.).
  • Please use strong passwords that are not easily guessable. They should be composed of numbers, letters (upper case and lower case) and special characters.
  • It is good practice to change your mobile banking password regularly.
  • Do not lend others your phone with the mobile banking function opened as this will prevent infringement and deter others from spying on your personal information.

DEBIT CARD PROTECTION

Debit card usage has increased dramatically in recent years and fraudulent use of debit cards has also increased. Therefore, when we issue cards at ABN, we are careful to explain to our clients the various ways to protect their accounts from being targets of fraudsters.

We at ABN have some suggestions for you for the care and usage of debit cards.

  • NEVER give your debit card information (PIN and PAN) when requested either by phone, email, or texting. We at ABN will never ask for any of these details via any form of communication
  • Do not keep any written copy of your PIN with your card. Memorize it.
  • Be sure that nobody is looking over your shoulder when you enter your PIN on the ATM. Even if you aren't aware of anyone watching you, it is still a good idea to shield the keys of the ATM with your other hand when you enter your PIN.
  • As much as possible avoid giving your cards to people to make withdrawals or carry out transactions on your behalf.

IDENTITY THEFT

Identity theft involves the unlawful acquisition and use of someone's identifying information, such as: Name, Address, Date of Birth, Mother's Maiden Name, Drivers License and Bank Account or Bank Verification Number (BVN)

Thieves then use the information to repeatedly commit fraud in an attempt to duplicate your identity for fraudulent activities that may create negative effect on you.

TIPS TO PROTECT YOURSELF

  • Never give out any personal information including birth date or Passwords
  • Don't give any of your personal information to any web sites that do not use encryption or other secure methods to protect it
  • Do not open email attachments from unknown sources.
  • Do not leave your computer unattended or idle for long periods of time. Always lock the screen when you are leaving your computer.
  • Exercise extreme caution whenever you shop online. Look out for the security certificate and https links before you input your personal information.
  • Don't share private information online.
  • Don't use personal information for your user names or passwords like Date of Birth, wedding anniversary, phone number and home address.
  • Shred any important document that contains your sensitive information, card details and paper statements promptly.
  • Never click the 'save my password/details' option sometimes offered.
  • Be careful when using public computers and public wireless hotspots to access your Online Banking.
  • Create difficult passwords which include letters, numbers, & symbols when possible
  • Report lost or stolen cheque or debit cards immediately to ABN.

Remember, ABN will NEVER contact its clients on an unsolicited basis to request their security logon credentials such as the combination of the client's username and password or debit card details.
